Sold coach...can I still hang out?

Yahoo Message Number: 15392
Hi all,

After nine years of great service, I sold my Jayco 32ss kodiak. With
upcoming heart surgery and knowing it would sit for at least the next
year, I thought it better to let it go to someone who might use it than
let is rot in storage.

This group has been such a great resource going all the way back to when
Don Leslie started it. I can't imagine how a couple of things would have
been resolved were it not for quick responses from people here over the
years.

I will surely miss having an RV....first time in about 40 years.
Hopefully we will return to the fold in a year and continue our travels.
I plan to just lurk and enjoy RV's vicariously thru your stories here :-)

Thanks for your friendships over the last nine years!

Take care,
Greg

Ah Greg, you may have forgotten that when I gave you a list of things to watch for when you bought the 32SS in 2007 attached was a lifetime membership in this group.

Don't stray far and keep us posted. Hope the surgery goes well. We'll keep our fingers crossed for you.

Don

Ah...the same deal I got when the Army drafted me! I should have been
suspicious :-)

Thanks for all the well wishes from everyone! Tests continue to
determine when they'll cut me open. IOW, the aneurysm dart board.

Take care,
Greg

You definitely can still stay around and chime in. Remember our beloved founder abandon ship 😁 and went to regular "c" and I'm now in a fifth-wheel.

So your saying we're like bad pennies, you can't get rid of us? ;-)

My wife says we're going to downsize when things settle down and we get
another RV. She's looking at everything from small C's to small trailers
I can tow with a smaller truck.

Greg, I recently took a step in the direction of another change. I bought a vehicle that has reasonable towing capacity for a decent sized trailer. Then I thought about it and decided to continue driving big and towing small for a while longer. I traded my 2014 Town & Country for a 2016 Ford Expedition Max (EL) Platinum. Next year I might look for a trailer. We are planning to use our MH for one week this summer and that will be it again - like last year and the year before.

Tomorrow I'll be 74 and I'm finding I no longer have the energy or desire to undertake all the work involved with an RV. On July 3 while at my son's races at Waterford Hills MI just north of Ron, a kidney stone hit and the pain was awful. I hope I'm must getting over it now as I had an ultrasound yesterday and they couldn't no longer see it. Don't know what happened to it as it was a big one (1.1 cm) and I sure didn't feel it depart. I had not had a stone for about 12 years but I've carried oxycodone with me at all times just in case.

Don

ps. Jeep did the special wiring harness for towing the Cherokee and now I'm about to add a power connection (using the RVi brake firms device).

Hey Don
Wait until you get as old as I am. Then you will know what old age is. 74 in June. Our friend Russ Hill will hit that next May. That day when the Endura and I part company gets closer every day. Leaving of AZ mid November. Been a long summer. Had hernia surrey in June. It went well. But complication are keeping me tied to the house for at least another month. That should get us on the road for a iRV2 rally at Elkhart Campground.

Gee Ron, you mean I only have one day to wait until things get worse? :)

What I'm finding is that getting old really sucks. However, given that it was expected that I'd see my last sunset in 2001 due to non-Hodgkins lymphoma, I can't complain. Every day is a bonus. When the cancer center gave me the boot in August 2011 they said "looking at the lymph node biopsies, the catscans, the bone marrow tests - you should have been dead a long time ago. Get out and stay out. Don't come back." Those were the nicest words I could have asked for.

Hope your problems all melt away like appears happened to my kidney stone.

Don

A early Happy Birthday Don. You have about 2 months to catch up to me.
I am doing pretty good. Getting a lot of little things done, I am making progress. What keeps us from going places. Is doctor appointments. We told the doctors they better their act together because we are taking a month long holiday in September.

Given this kidney stone issue gets resolved we are hoping to get away in mid Sept to some time in Oct to travel Route 66. Going to pick it up south of Chicago and go to the west end of AZ. Then on the way back to Branson to see the Sons of the Pioneers.

Where are you headed in Sept?

Don

Our flight surgeon used to tell us "Old age is no place for sissies" Of
course we all laughed when we were a bunch of young hard core aviators.

Yup, expiration dates are questionable :-) I'm now 13 years into my "3-5
years if well controlled" The doctors told me the good news was I might
have 3-5 years, but the bad news was they figured I was already two
years into it. When Duke took my case, the doctor there told me to
"forget all that nonsense" and it turns out he was right. I collect
auto-immune diseases (MS and CSS) which have caused the heart issues.

The fact you guys have issues and are a tad older than me gives me hope
:-) I'm 63, but I blame the high mileage on a life in the Army...at
least that's my story :-)

I hope both of you get to head out on the road soon.

Take care,
Greg
