07 Greyhawk 32SS 8.1L --80 Gal tank really 109 gallon?????

Yahoo Message Number: 387
While rolling around on a creeper under my 32SS I noticed something I
had not noticed before. A sticker on my gas tank says do not fill to
more than 95% of capacity. I can understand that, but the same sticker
says it has a capacity of 109 gallons and is made by Fuel Systems
Incorporated. It has a date of 10/06 and says that it meets all FMCSA
requirements for non side mounted tanks.

So, what size tank is it....80 gallon or 109 gallon? As you can
quickly figure, 95% of 80 is 76 gallons, and 95% of 109 is 103.5
gallons. Now I do not really care, either size is OK, but I wonder
what the "real" size is? I have never had mine within 1/4 of empty so
I have no idea of actual capacity. Of course 30 more gallons would add
about 200 more pounds, but I know what mine weighs full (tanks and
gear) anyway. I just wonder what the factory allows for weight when
figuring their totals....if it is a 109 gallon tank?

OK, I found a thread over on rv.net that talks about this. I will go
back and read all of the thread.

As a 32SS owner this bothers me if the 95% is for reasons of safety (never heard of a reduction like this though). When you are filling, just how are you to know if you are at 76 gallons or 103.5 gallons?

My respect for the RV industry just keeps dropping. :(

OH, DW just asked (after I read you comment to her) how many role around under and will find this notice? :)

You will note that many of us have posts in that thread. I'd forgotten about it since I'd just ordered.

What did come out in that thread convinced me I'd have an extended chassis - and have since found the wb extended and the rails behind the rear wheels as well.

Sure hope I don't have problems with GM on warranty issues.
