5 speed 2007 Seneca. Any easy way to covert to 6 speed? April 05, 2010, 01:53:55 am Yahoo Message Number: 4207I have the Jayco Seneca 34ss with 5 speed. My understanding is that this trans, the MH1000 is the same as 6 speed but programming is different. Is there a way to get this to work well as a 6 speed? Thanks! Quote Selected

If you have a late model 2006 of a certain S/Ns it can be reprogramed to allow the 6th speed to operate. The earlier transmissions cannot be done. Has to do with the way that the electronics talk to each other. The earlier trans can be upgraded with a kit from ATS or any of the upfitters that upgrade these transmissions to handle more torque and horsepower. What year is your SS?DennyFrom: fredzust To: KodiakChassisClassC@yahoogroups.comSent: Sun, April 4, 2010 11:52:56 PMSubject: [KodiakChassisClassC] 5 speed 2007 Seneca. Six Speed Allisonhttp://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/KodiakChassisClassC/message/3339 . Some of the discussion will take you to Diesel Place. Not sure what the outcome was with being able to get a program change. As you will see in the thread some 07 Kodiak's had the 5 speed with a rear ratio that should be in a 6 speed. Not good. RPMs will be 2000 at 55 mph.BestRon Hall Quote Selected

Reply #4 – April 05, 2010, 09:48:24 am Yahoo Message Number: 4211Doing a quick calculation shows that you probably have a 4.44 rear axle if you are doing 70 mph at 2300 rpm.Have you got a VIN check on your Kodiak chassis?BestRon Hall Quote Selected

IF converting to 6 speed is painful, perhaps just going to a taller rear gear makes more sense? Quote Selected

You may want to talk to a Allison service center. You will need the serial # off the trans. There are also people on Diesel Place that may help. One is mikel.BestRon Hall Quote Selected

At the Diesel Place site linked in tread above you will find the serial # cutoff for the 5 and six speed trans. Getting a program to make the sixth gear work seems to be the problem.BestRon Hall Quote Selected
