Which Super C For Young Kids And Towing?

Yahoo Message Number: 661
No, I'm not looking to tow the young kids, but now that I think
about it... :)

I'm looking at both travel trailers and Super C motorhomes. I have
a 20 month old and a 4 year old, so I'd like to be able to put them
in a separate sleeping area. I don't want to use a fold out couch
or something in the living area. That way I can put them to bed and
we can stay up and play games, read, etc. in the living area.

I also tow my 69 Road Runner to some shows on an open trailer using
my 06 Dodge Ram Mega Cab 2500 CTD. If I get a motorhome, I'd like
to be able to use it to tow the Road Runner.

If I don't get a motorhome, I might get a travel trailer, but that's
another question for another forum.

The trailer and Road Runner combine to be around 5500 pounds.

Who has the best floorplan for keeping the kiddies in a separate
sleeping area while still being able to tow? Normally I'm a fan of
overkill when it comes to towing, but with motorhomes, overkill gets
VERY expensive.

Are the Gulfstream Supernova/Eduras bunk models really that much
better than the Gulfstream Ultra/Independence/Yellowstone/Conquest?
Other than stickers, is there any difference between the
Ultra/Independence/Yellowstone/Conquest?

I'm also looking at the Jayco Seneca HD bunkhouse, of course.

Thanks!

Brad

I just picked up a 08 Yellowstone 6316. I plan on towing a 28'
enclosed trailer with a 3000lb Nova in it total weight about 8500lbs.
One of the reasons I chose this floorplan was with 1 slide and a
relativly short floorplan it left some room for towing and not
exceeding the GVWR or the GCWR although I will be close fully loaded.
Too bad I got the last one they discontinued this floor plan late
last year. I like you am a big fan of overkill when towing but like
you said that gets pricy quick when talking motorhomes. I would look
at the weights of the various models the ones on longer floorplans
with multiple slides seem to be the ones guys are complaining about
being overloaded easily. The stickers/colors are the only difference
in the Gulfstream models. I originally wanted an Ultra and was going
to order but because they axed the 6316 I had to take the last one
they had at the factory which was a Yellowstone. As far as the kids
go if you didn't mind sleeping in the bunk or pull out, most of the
rear bedrooms are able to be separated from the main living area.
you could simply stick them in the back bedroom close the
door/curtain and have the rest of the coach to yourselves.

Well, the rear bedroom is where I'd like for us to sleep and put the
kiddies in the bunks (assuming I can install something to prevent my
4 year old son from rolling out of the top bunk).

I just can't see paying all this money for a motorhome and not being
able to sleep in the best bed. :)

I guess if we brought the out-laws with us, we'd have to give up the
rear bedroom. My mother-in-law wouldn't be able to climb up into
any upper bed.

Can anyone tell me if the Supernova/Endura are really much nicer
than Gulfstream's "regular" Super Cs?

I haven't really looked at all the differences between the "regular"
super Cs and the Endura/Supernovas but I have been in both. From
what I can tell most of the Endura/Supernovas have been optioned a
little bit different (more leather, lighter decore). Not something
that nessiarily appeals to me, more along the lines of something I
figure a retiree may like. They do have the molded fiberglass end
caps and the class A style slam hatches on the storage compartments
which are nice. As far as the interior appointments I think they are
pretty similar. If it had been in my budget I deffinetly would have
stepped up to the Supernova or at least the international chassis to
bump the towing capacity but I couldn't swing the extra 30k or so
over the Kodiak

The Super Nova 6400 maybe the best choice. Lots of sleeping and
entertainment for everyone.

Saw one on EBay.

Anybody know the CCC on the 6400, looks like it is a heavy rig.

The brochure for the Endura (same thing) says "up to 3000 lbs" on
the Kodiak chassis. They don't break it down by floorplan, though.

The Four Winds Model 34H has bunks, but has only 664 lbs of CCC.
