Filter Minder June 13, 2008, 08:55:15 am Yahoo Message Number: 1205Did some investigation on air filters for the Kodiak. These filterscost a fortune. GM calls for replacement around 22500 miles. Unlessyou have a Filter Minder. Bought a Filter Minder off EBAY andinstalled(less than $30). Got same one that GM offers as a option. GSchoose not to put one in their Kodiak's. There is also a K&N modelthat goes in engine compartment. While I had filter out for install. I noticed that at sometime waterhas collected in the air intake. Drilled a small hole to drain waterbefore it gets to air cleaner. There is a hole already drilled justbehind the one I drilled. But it is to high and far back to drain thewater. This mod should save the cost on a filter or 2 during ownership.See photos in my photo area here on Kodiak Chassis Class C Motorhomes.http://autos.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/KodiakChassisClassC/photos/browse/1c28 Quote Selected
Re: Filter Minder Reply #1 – June 27, 2008, 09:54:15 pm Yahoo Message Number: 1348Thanks for the write-up, Ron. I got around to installing the filterminder on my Seneca today, and what an easy install. Took all of 20minutes.With the filters (GM Part # 88937527) costing 69.99 at Advance Autopart, the Filter Minder should save a bunch of money.I uploaded picture of the installed Filter Minder to my gallery(BillyP) -http://autos.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/KodiakChassisClassC/photos/view/ebce?b=10, "Ron Hall" wrote:QuoteDid some investigation on air filters for the Kodiak. Re: Filter Minder Reply #2 – June 28, 2008, 04:29:25 am Yahoo Message Number: 1350Nice install. Made a trip up north last weekend. Since my FilterMinder is mounted inside I can watch how it reacts as engine changesload and rpms. Never went about 1/2 of the gauge. I did check to seewhat happens when limit is reached. It lock into that position. Untilthat is reach indicator moves up and down as intake changes. I bettingthat MH will have 50,000 miles before filter needs changing. Quote Selected
Re: Filter Minder Reply #3 – June 28, 2008, 07:45:48 am Yahoo Message Number: 1353I liked the remote reading gauge, that you used, but .... I alreadyhave a transmission temp gauge occupying one of the gauge spaces andplan to add an exhaust temp gauge in the other. But, the remote readgauge would be cool to watch:), "Ron Hall" wrote: Quote Selected
