Slide problem and temporary fix Greyhawk 32SS July 22, 2008, 10:23:09 pm Yahoo Message Number: 1435Attachments :I first took out the drawer above the 12V fuse panel and checked thewiring. Initially I thought I'd found the problem - but was I offbase. There were two wires hanging at the right end (15 and 16) and aconnector lying below. I thought "there is the problem, the connectorfell off." Then looked again and 15 is a blank and 16 is for thepower sofa, which we don't have. So, fuse panel looks OK. Thenchecked out the coach battery to ensure it appeared OK. Water levelwas fine - no change from new. Then I rolled under the MH front slide and started looking. Found theslide motor. Looked OK. Then I noticed that the pair of wires werepositioned rather strangely. AH HA, what is that, a drive shaft runsout each side of the drive wheel attached to the motor and one side isVERY close to the motor and the nut holding on the bolt that keeps theshaft on looks to be rubbing on the motor case. Wait, those two wiresare jammed between the motor case and the nut (see photo). From theroadside looking through the battery compartment door everything looksokay. In the third photo you can see the wire with the insulation torn openfrom the nut on the rotating shaft and that exposed wire was creatingthe short that blew the fuse. The strange aspect of this, however, isthat the fuse that blew was the No. 1 fuse that was marked BedroomSlide NOT the number 12 fuse marked front slide. So, it appears theyreversed the fuse connections.I've wrapped the exposed wire with electrical tape and pushed it outof the way of the nut on the shaft. Don't know how long it will stayout of the way and I'll check it periodically. We still have to gointo Jayco to get some paint work done and I think I'll get them tofix this (if they think it is a problem) along with the exhausthanger. Hmm. Since they suggested I get the hanger fixed at a mufflershop maybe I'd be better off doing that and sending them the bill asrequested.Don Quote Selected

Re: Slide problem and temporary fix Greyhawk 32SS Reply #3 – July 23, 2008, 07:47:38 pm Yahoo Message Number: 1442I just used electrical tape to cover the break in the insulation and moved the wires out of the way of the nut. When we go back to Middlebury (if there is anyone left there) to get the paint work done I'm going to have them look at the way the motor and slide drive shafts were installed. Just doesn't look right as that nut has been striking the motor.Donps. Ron, we are just across the bridge from you now - well, a few days a week until we close at the other end.On 23-Jul-08, at 11:16 AM, Ron Hall wrote: Quote Selected
