Service Brakes Soon light

Yahoo Message Number: 1529
Took my MH out for a ride today. Got 1/4 mile from home and the Service
Brakes Soon light came on. No other lights came on. This is the light
on the panel below radio. Anybody had this problem? I have checked
fluid level and other obvious items. I have a scematic that shows this
light works when there is a problem with the Hydro-Boost system.

good morning, Ron

I never had this happen to me while on the road, but it does happens from time to time while moving from storage to my home. i just attributed to not enough air for the engine brake, i just let it idle for a few minutes and it goes away on it's own.

Your problem with the light may be easier to solve than mine.
According to the owners manual. If you have your foot on the brake and
turning at the same time (like when you are maneuvering in to a
parking spot) the light may come on. Stop either turning steering
wheel or take foot off brake pedal and the light should go out.
This problem has been showing up every so often. Most times when I get
somewhere where I can shut engine off and then restart, problem goes
away. But not this time.

Got it fixed. It was the Power Brake Booster Fluid Flow Switch.
Actually its connector. Must have been a bad connection. There are
many places to check besides the above switch, including brake pedal
switch, hydromax relay, and Electronic Brake Control Module.
This light in the Driver Information Center (panel under Radio) is
primary used to tell it the Hydro Boost (power brakes)is operating
properly. It is used on Gas and Diesel model Kodiak Chassis. Got the
information from Diesel Place. In this thread.

I have an appointment Monday with a repair shop to look into the
problem and make sure it is fixed properly.

I have had the same problem, but with a different cure. Both times my
service brake light has come on it was the brake light switch on the
brake pedal was stuck. The way i discovered this was that I did not
have brake lights. This light and buzzer would come on after having the
brake pedal depressed for about 7 seconds. I simply gently moved the
switch, turned the key off to reset and all was well. I had a dealer
tell me that it was the fluid flow switch connector, but on the way
home from the dealer the light came on again, this time my wife was
following me and told me that the brake lights were not working. I
suggest that you check this on your unit. It took me a while to figure
out that the warning light was telling me that I had no brake lights.
Hope this helps.

That was one of the first items I checked. From a previous thread I
bought a spare switch in the spare parts box. Put it in but did not
fix the problem. Brake lights worked when I checked them. I now have a
tested switch in the spare parts box.
