go to harbor freight and get one of those orange fluid pumps for five bucks and you can pump directly out of a gallon of oil. works like a champ.

I use a large tank type pressure pump to change oil in engine and generator. Have used the HF pump to take oil out of the power steering tank. Works very for well that. Never thought of using one to put oil in generator. Should work good.

I have also used the orange hand pump to put oil in the generator. Whoever decided to put the oil fill all the way at the top and then stuff a generator in a compartment against the top so you can't pour into it is an idiot. I did just recently purchase a NAPA version of the same pump but made of metal instead of plastic. Seems to work much better.
