Lazydays Tucson? We are staying at the campground. Greg and Helen,
long time member (May 2009) but first time posting.

This is a great site and I don't know why I haven't commented before.
We have taken so many suggestions for fixing issues (had many but all
mostly fixed) and upgrades - shocks, traction bars, etc. All very
helpful. VERY!

Our 2007 Dutchmen 35B is getting a good work out - our first trip
longer than a week - we are starting on our 8th week out (from
Florence, OR) and over 4,000 miles. On our way back from
Houston/Corpus Christi, TX (with many side trips). No hurry to get
home, still raining on the Oregon Coast.

While I'm here, 2 questions for the group.

1. Had a split in the right front tire, went ahead and replaced all 6
in Corpus Christi. Replace Goodyear 225 70R19.5 (G670 RV Load F) with
the same size Michelin XZE 14 ply. The issue is I seem to being
getting a lot of "Floating". Feels real unstable. Is that normal? Any
suggestions? Suppose to be "the best you can buy" but I'm not so sure.

2. Driver side slide (big one) inches its way out first thing (within
30 mins) after we retract it. Sometimes just once, sometimes twice,
sometimes not at all. I have to pull over and retract it and it is a
pain. Any ideas?

Thanks and it's always nice to see some Kodiak's on the road.

Little early to get home from the south. While you were in Corpus Christi did you visit the RGV? At least 2 of our members are in the area.
Looking forward to more reports from you.

Greg,

My 2007 32b had the same problem when I purchased it used. They had it fixed before I picked it up. I believe they called the manufacturer of the leveling system and had to replace the ram under the slide. It might have been bleeding past the seals.

If you give them a call, they should get you headed in the right direction.

Does anybody have any ideas for the question below? I just changed out my tires to the same michelin's and mine is doing the same thing

Not sure. My ride improved dramatically after switching.

A thought: I run with higher pressure (than a CAT scale to tire weight table would suggest). 105 - 110.

On your slide. Look in storage compartment under slide. There is a lock on slide mechanism and you have pushed it off. Just push back on. Happens alot when we load our compartments. Dane

Dane,

Is the lock on the ram? I don't remember anything like that on my Dutchman.

Great suggestions and thanks to all.

On the tire question - Stopped yesterday at a truck tire dealer in
Phoenix - he was helpful, I think?

He said that he gets this issue often. He (the president) comments where:

1) When you replace tires that are both have some ware and age (I had
both), you are going to notice a rather big difference in the ride. It
usually takes up to 2,500 miles before the new tire softens enough to
smooth out the ride a bit.

2) He also said to check the driver side door for the recommended tire
pressure (mind states 95 psi). He said that regardless of what the
tire says (110), the recommended tire pressure is what you should run.
I'm running about 105 currently.

3) To support tire pressure, he also said to check my weight. I did
run mind on a scale - 6,640 on the front - 13,220 on the rear - 4,060
on the TOAD (Jeep). This puts be a little over the 19,500 total
recommended but still okay (I think?) He then did the math on the max
weight for the tires. 7,940 on the front (I'm running at 83.6% of
capacity) and 15,000 on the rear (I'm at 88% of capacity). He said
that this also is why I should run closer to the 95 psi.

I don't know if this is common knowledge but kind of makes sense. I'll
probably do nothing until I learn a little more - hopefully from you
all...

Anyway additional thoughts?

BTW - our trip is long from being over. Heading to Lake Havasu City,
then San Diego, then Palm Desert, then who knows - depending on how
much rain and cold there is at home. We are having a blast, meeting
some awesome people and seeing some great sights - plus visited a
number of very nice micro-breweries. 27 and counting.....

Thanks again and sorry for rambling on...

Greg

Roger Roger.

We went on a similar journey. So let me walk though how I got where I ended up...

Manufacturer recommendation may be based on original tire.

Also the tire manual will list the weight ratings and pressure for your specific tire.

Here is the math that I did for my originals and the new ones XZE Level H. By way of explanation - note that Goodyear no longer makes that specific model tire that was on my vehicle.  Long painful story many of you may remember:

It should be on the tram that takes side in and out. Mine on righ side. It is a small push pull lever. All have them.
