First service 8.1L March 12, 2010, 08:35:39 pm Yahoo Message Number: 3800I bought 10 quarts of mobil one 5w-30 and a mobil one oil filter # M1-111, I will be doing my first oil change and going synthetic. I know controversy, I've heard all the dont change to synthetic until xxxx miles. I am with the crowd that says do it now its OK. I have done it several time with no ill effects on motorcycles, cars, and trucks. I bought a tube of mobil one grease for the suspension and every other zerk fittings that I see. The photos on this site are very good and I will use these as a guide as well and the owners manual. Anything else that would benefit my coach at this time? (1000 miles)Craig Quote Selected

I made thechange at 1500 miles. My son is a senior master tech with his 9 ASEcertifications so I tend to believe what he tells me. He said that was aperfect time to make the change and actually with the new technology youcould do it any time. He said it's worth using the initial oil for the first1000 or so miles and even if you aren't going synthetic it's a good time tochange it because the initial wear and break in residue is done by then.Little bits of metal, etc from the break in period. I tend to change mineevery 5000 miles or if it sits for several months without a lot of use. Hesays with the new synthetics it's not as critical to change according totime it sits as it was with the old oils because it doesn't degrade thesame. Mileage and usage is more important. I'm old school in some things andchanging it isn't a big deal to me.QuoteI bought a tube of mobil one grease for the suspension and every otherzerk fittings that I see.QuoteThe photos on this site are very good and I will use these as a guideI forgot who posted those, but it's worth it's weight in gold and I check itbefore I do it each time just to remind myself where all the fittings are.QuoteAnything else that would benefit my coach at this time?
