First service 8.1L

Yahoo Message Number: 3800
I bought 10 quarts of mobil one 5w-30 and a mobil one oil filter # M1-111, I will be doing my first oil change and going synthetic. I know controversy, I've heard all the dont change to synthetic until xxxx miles. I am with the crowd that says do it now its OK. I have done it several time with no ill effects on motorcycles, cars, and trucks. I bought a tube of mobil one grease for the suspension and every other zerk fittings that I see. The photos on this site are very good and I will use these as a guide as well and the owners manual. Anything else that would benefit my coach at this time? (1000 miles)

I use the same in my 2007 Jayco 32SS with the 8.1 ltr engine. I made the
change at 1500 miles. My son is a senior master tech with his 9 ASE
certifications so I tend to believe what he tells me. He said that was a
perfect time to make the change and actually with the new technology you
could do it any time. He said it's worth using the initial oil for the first
1000 or so miles and even if you aren't going synthetic it's a good time to
change it because the initial wear and break in residue is done by then.
Little bits of metal, etc from the break in period. I tend to change mine
every 5000 miles or if it sits for several months without a lot of use. He
says with the new synthetics it's not as critical to change according to
time it sits as it was with the old oils because it doesn't degrade the
same. Mileage and usage is more important. I'm old school in some things and
changing it isn't a big deal to me.

I forgot who posted those, but it's worth it's weight in gold and I check it
before I do it each time just to remind myself where all the fittings are.

Not that I can think of, but others may pop in with some advice.

Take care,
