Russ Hill and his lovely wife Claudia had a chance encounter with Sandy and I outside of Yellowstone National Park this summer. It was a great visit and I learned a lot from the work he had done on both his Coach and Tow vehicle. In our dialogue since Russ floated the idea of trying to get other Kodiak lovers to have a rally - perhaps piggybacked on another event (e.g. Quartzsite...)
My questions are:
1)Has this group ever gotten together before?
2)Is there a natural rally that we could piggy back on and where we might get good attendance?
One issue of trying to piggy back another event is that not all of us may be members of any one club: Escapees, FMCA, Good Sam, etc. Not all of us have the same manufacturer either which makes a Manufacturer's show less than optimal.
Still there may be some convergence around events - Say the Balloon Race in Albuquerque , or The Rally in Louisville Kentucky that makes sense.
Thoughts and suggestions welcome.

A Kodiak Chassis Rally sounds good to me. Around or close to the summer Good Sam rally in Louisville would be a good place. Although we do not usually travel in the summer. I would take the MH out of mothballs for this kind of rally.
I like the RV.net Rally's. Just pay for your site and enjoy your fellow RVer. Not sure what would be available at that time of year. Will have to investigate. Weather permitting, I can check some parks south of Louisville when we leave next month.
Another option is to do a rally in Elkhart area. Maybe we could get some support from the manufactures in the area.
Throw some more ideas out. We may be able to get something together that will work for us owners.

Monday I will call one of the RV Parks that I have stayed at before in Elkhart. See If they can take 20 + RV's around July 22 to 25th time frame. That way attendees can go to Good Sam rally the next week.

Weekend after labor day works for us also. The July date lets owners that have kids in school attend. Vacation and 2 rally's in one trip. Last Rally we had in Elkhart. A Jayco plant tour was planned. Had about 20 people secluded to go. Jayco canceled. Did a tour of Damon and Silver Crown. Both on 12 hour notice.

No signup required to attend this rally. Just make your reservation for the Kodiak Rally. Then post here that you have a reservation. I will try to keep track of who has signed up. Then post it here. At sometime after the forum has had a chance to sign up and we have not met the 20 site reservations I will post the rally on RV.net. offering reservations to anyone that has a Kodiak Chassis Class C to join us. May do this even if we have the 20 sites reserved. As long as campground has sites. Sites are $32 plus tax for a 50amp site.
Do not rush making the reservation until I sign a commitment for the sites. Should have that done by end of next week.
For those that have never been to Elkhart Campground. It is a nice park near all the activities in Elkhart. Many of the sites are gravel and grass. Not to far to Jayco and Fourwinds. Gulf Stream is about 30 miles south.
Please ask questions. I am sure some of the others will help with tours and other item. Tours will probably happen during weekdays. So plan your trip accordingly.
I will work as a coordinator until someone else steps up. But would appreciate any help with tours badges and any other activity that attendees want to participate in.

Ron the agenda sounds GREAT. We will be coming from Calif. and have heard a lot of good things about the swap meets in Shipshewana, In. on Tues. & Wednesday's. Will try to hit this spot prior to the RALLY.
I have 25 copies of the booklet titled Michelin RV Tires for distribution to all attendees. It is packed with good information applicable to all brands of tires. This booklet can be distributed during one of the seminars.
I have a ONAN Command Center panel in our Seneca. I still do not how how to access all of its features. Here's hoping someone at the RALLY has the programing knowledge to educate me on it's operation.

Ron has their been any update on the number of "KODIAK RALLY" attendees, or are we still at 8 rigs. I am in the final process of preparing our rig for the trip. We plan on being gone for 2 months, leaving July 1st and returning to Calif. around Labor Day. The RALLY will be one of the highlights of the vacation. Have a wedding in Port Huron the last week of July and also plan to do Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village.
Is Power Gear in the area of the RALLY? Is the agenda the same as published 6-9-10?

The total is stuck at 8. When I stop at Elkhart Campground in April they did not have a list of attendees. Just a bunch of reservation. We will be together in same area. Each attendee needs to mention that they are with the group to make sure they get a site with the group.
I have not done anything with Power Gear. I have been so busy with family things I am getting behind. Maybe someone can look up the info and make inquires as to a tour or info from them.
If you do not have a place to stay for your trip to Henry Ford. You can stay at our place during this part of the trip. 50 amps, water and a pump out.

Ron, I just looked at their site and it has sure been changed. When I got my Kodiak I had to call them because the levellers had to be recalibrated. They directed me to the web site to download. I had no problem calling them. Now, nothing at all on the site as to address, phone number, email or anything. Just a fax number. That tells me they must have had a lot of calls with problems that they don't want to field now.

Don...I believe you are 100% correct regarding Power Gear. I had a recent problem with my slide and the only way the dealer could contact them was thru their fax. They could not even call them. Their response time was 2 to 4 days upon receipt of fax, plus another 5 days shipping to the west coast. They do not seem to be very customer focused................................russ

It's one week to the rally. I talked the campground last week. We are one of 5 groups meeting at park next week. They have not figured out which area we are going to be in. You need to make sure when checking in that you specify what group you are with. Geta has us down as Kodaik Chassis and will do her best to keep us all together.
I am hoping for good weather so we can hold all our activities at or near our RV's. We do have a area reserved inside a building to take care of bad weather if it should arise.
My mother donated a large container of coffee to the rally. We only have a 12 cup coffee maker. Should be enough for our group. Anyone else want to bring cups and other condiments please do so. I plan on having coffee at our MH each morning.
We do have the questionnaire for the rally. I plan to have copies in the welcome bag. Fill them out as you feel like. There will only be one copy and will be returned to the owners at end of rally.
Any Kodiak/Topkick owners that are in the area during the rally. Feel free to stop by and say hello.

Well I hope all arrived safe. Wish we were with you, when you go for a tour of Jayco please say hello to a person named Vin, we had some problems with our furnace and they extended our warranty and sure enough it went again and when we returned from south our dealer took the whole system apart and fixed it and Jayco paid for it. Added a couple more pictures to the collection.
We have been having a great time at the rally.
Did the Jayco plant tour Friday. John Mcdonald of Jayco did a great job. After the tour Paul Gardner director of product development met with us to discuss the replacement of the Kodiak Chassis. It's going to be a Freightliner (see photo). Jayco went way above what we expected with the tour and meeting with Paul.
Some of the group went on another tour. It was so good. Others are planning on doing it on Monday. Thank You Jayco for your support of our group.
In the afternoon we had a seminar on the Kodiak Chassis maintenance. It sure is easy to give these when all attendee are interested and help with their input to the info.
Potluck dinner went well. We all ate to much good food.
Saturday we we had breakfast at Esienhaus restaurant. Great breakfast.
In the afternoon we did the tour of each other MH. This was another highlight of the rally. We all like our mods. Some of the simplest mods got the most attention. Everyone precipitated in the tour.
As already mentioned in the middle of the tour Don's Norcold Door fell off. Hope the fix gets to Don soon. The break has limit his families access to cool drinks that have been needed because of the warm weather.
Had our seminar on Coach Maintenance. Another easy one to give with group participation.
We all went out to dinner in the evening. The plan was Mexican. We are all still looking for the restaurant on the left side of SR19. Of course the group ended up at 3 different restaurants after loosing contact with each other. We need to get cell phone numbers to help keep on contact with each other.
Today some are headed out to other adventures. Going to be some great goodbyes over the next 2 days.

I would like to thank all of you for attending the Jayco tour and the product focus group session. All of you provided valuable insight on how to make the next generation of Seneca Motorhomes even better. I enjoyed the time we spent together and hope that all of you stop by again, feel free to look John or myself up.

I want to personally thank Ron for all his hard work as the host of this great rally. He has so much knowledge of everything from front to back of an RV and helped many of us with issues we had. What a wonderful idea for the who house water flow valve. We have wonderful water flow now. The entire group were wonderful Americans and all seemed to gel right off the bat and we all became good friends looking forward to the next rally. I personally learned so much about RV issues that I only hope to retain most of it.
Again thanks to all and May God Bless You and Yours and keep each of you safe until we meet again.
