For almost 4 years I've wondered about getting a Safe-T-Plus for our
MH. I've been wondering about getting one for the Kodiak. I'm not
sure I'll need it as so far I have found it very steady on the highway
as it seems to be as good as our Journey and Ambassador. Thus, the
primary value would seem to be in the invent of a blowout.
Has anyone in the group (which now numbers 57 by the way) had a
Safe-T-Plus put on their Kodiak chassis?
If you have I'd be interested to know the cost of the STP and
installation cost.
Thanks
Don

Since they do not (or did not) list the Kodiak I sent STP a note asking
if they carried on for the Kodiak and they stated:

Don,
I don't have one on the Kodiak, but had one on a class A. Could NEVER
get it adjusted so that it did not pull to the left. Safe Steer makes
one for the Kodiak that I might consider.

I do not have one on my Kodiak. But when I was at the GS rally last
June. One of the vendors installed one on a Seneca. Price was $575
installed.

I noticed that Camping World has Safe T Plus on on special this week. You can use their config tool on their website for the Kodiak. It came back with:
13412 SAFE-T-PLUS, CLS A W 1 $476.00 $476.00 15631 BRACKT GILLIG/DYNAST 1 $63.00 $63.00 Total$539.00
I think they will install for $89.00 if you not a do it yourselfer. I think the sale ends on the 22nd.

It is one of a few self centering steering devices. S-T-P looks similar
to a shock absorber and attaches to the tie rod under the front of the
motorhome. When the steering wheel is tuned, these devices then attempt
to return the steering to straight ahead. With S-T-P adjusting it to
straight ahead is critical, something nobody could ultimately achieve
with my old MH.
Blue Ox makes a similar device called Tru Center which features an
adjustment that can be made from the dashboard. I'm told this is very
helpful in cross winds. Safe Steer is another centering device which
consists of springs that return the steering to center. Each of these
would be very valuable in case of a front tire blow out.
