213" vs 239" wheelbase issues

Yahoo Message Number: 1883

We have all wondered why the industry opts for the shorter wheelbase when they extend the frame rails anyway... I think the specs posted recently will answer that question...

In the section captioned wheelbase, it shows the 239" wheelbase has only 22,000# GCVR, while the 213.5" wheelbase can handle 22,000 thru 26,000#, while all the other specs remain the same, ie, frame strength, etc.

My question is, why can the shorter wheelbase handle more combined weight. Is it because of the 50,000 psi yield strength on the frame rails? Any ideas?
