Onan QD 5500 Generator Fill Tube Info.

2005 Gulfstream Endura 6316

Went to change the Onan oil. When refilling, the oil immediately ran
out through cracks in the fill tube. This is a common problem on this
unit, but was the first time I experienced it.

Contacted Cummins. During the discussion with the rep. I was told
that Cummins will cover this repair for 2008 units and newer.

Bought a repair kit that looks like the attached picture for ~ $250,
part # A044F075, made in May of 2013. Looks like removal of the gen.
from the RV will be necessary. I used to have a very high opinion of
Onan.

I had to replace mine a couple years ago. Yes the parts are expensive. Onan is very proud of the engineering mistakes. I had to remove the generator for RV. I have a tractor with pallet forks that made the removal somewhat easy. There are photos of another member removing his. My kit still had a rubber hose. I wonder how a all metal pipe is going to work on a engine that is rubber mounted.
Here is a link to some pictures of my repair.

Good question. Looked at the instructions. The tube is connected to the engine, but not to the control panel like the old one. It is similar to the way the Duramax fill tube is installed, but a bit longer. There is a door to be installed on the control panel. Open the door to access the dipstick.
