Front TV Power

Hello, long time reader, first time poster.
Not sure if this is a proper forum for this type of question but I am
out of ideas. I have a 2006 Jayco Seneca and last week my wife plugged
in a space heater to the concealed plug that services the front TV and
blew a fuse or at least I think so. The plug no longer has power. I
checked every circuit breaker in the camper and nothing has tripped
there. I also checked the fuses under the dash even though none of them
are tagged for the front TV plug. I also examined the plug and all
looks well. Where else is there to look?
I am aware that the Seneca must be in park with the parking break set
for this plug so no need to tell me about that possibility.

The problem will be with the converter which runs to that outlet so you can watch the TV off of the house battery. You may have had too much juice (come on electrical experts - jump in here) and you may have blow a fuse or caused a breaker to jump in the converter. Mine did that last year and I couldn't reset it because the way it was installed I could not see the front panel. When we took it to the factory service center it was a 2 second fix.

Make that inverter - which puts the DC power back to AC for the TV.

Scott: Had a similar proble woth my '06 Seneca 35GS and it turned out to be a loose wire that feeds the 50amp Main. When I remvoed the breaker the 'RED' wire dropped out of the main. ..........russ

I did check out the inverter under bedroom closet. I pulled all three
fuses and replaced them. Is there a breaker on the inverter that I
did not see? Just wondering how the inverter comes into play
considering I'm on shore power...

I had the same problem after an electrical storm. It could be the reset
button on your power inverter. That was the solution to my problem. I
have a Jayco 32SS. My inverter is behind a vent beside the fuse box in
the bedroom.

Scott,

Don't know if you've solved your problem yet or not but here's some thoughts. To answer your last question, the inverter comes into play while you are on shore power because the shore power for that outlet (entertainment center) actually goes through the inverter. There's an internal transfer switch in the box that senses when shore power is present and routes that power to the output (and then to the electrical outlet by the entertainment center).

When there is no shore power (or generator power) the inverter transfer switch senses that condition so that when the inverter is turned on, it then supplies 120vac created from the 12vdc battery power.

Now here's the kicker... there's a 7.5 amp breaker in-line with that shore power line going through the inverter. Don't know the size of the space heater in question but for example, a 1,500 watt unit will draw 12.5 amps. Therefore when DW plugged in the space heater it likely immediately exceeded the 7.5 amp rating of the inverter shore power line route and tripped the breaker.

There's a square breaker reset button on the lower left side of the front of the inverter. It's hard to see and get to because of all the wiring mess in that compartment. Here's a link to a picture (diagram) of the inverter front panel from the installation guide:

Also FYI, here's a link to the Xantrex inverter website showing all of the available documentation that you can download (in PDF format).

Thanks Bill!!!!!!!

I'm looking forward to visiting the Seneca this weekend armed with this new information.
