This can be a scary moment in any man's life ;-)
The response from people looking at mine has been excellent. Everyone is
shocked at how roomy it feels inside and just the basic feel of the
coach. A few people said the truck side of it seemed a bit big and
they'd be more comfortable driving a standard C on a van body. I explain
the usual reasons for the Kodiak being my choice in regards to chassis,
etc and that the width of the overall unit is the same either way.
Everyone seems surprised that it's been discontinued.
When I talk about it with my dealer, David just says they didn't sell
well. The dealer in GA who David arranged me to pick it up from said he
sold the heck out of them, so who knows. David said he sells many more
Senecas on the Kodiak than he ever did the Greyhawk and when people are
going to spend that amount, they didn't balk at another $20K or so for
diesel and flashier interior. Seems odd to me.
I couldn't be happier with mine after putting almost 2000 miles on it in
the last two months since I bought it. It handled the NC mountains well
in the wind a couple of weeks ago and kept us warm and toasty inside. I
am discouraged about the rear end cap separating and have to address
that when the world gets back to work this week.
No idea. I wonder if they look at the application and just assume that
people with the motorhomes are going to let them sit for months at a
time without doing regular maintenance and therefore subject the engine
to excessive wear when it's run on old oil with condensation in it from
sitting. Gummed up valves from not being run regularly etc. Just
speculation and poor guesses on my part though.
We had a great day, hope you did the same. We did get "out amongst them"
yesterday morning about 6 AM for a bit of shopping. Where we go at that
hour has easy parking and no big crowds looking for toys so our shopping
is easy and we get the early bird specials. Breakfast at 9 and then home
for a nap with shopping complete :-)
Take care,
Greg
