I had a call today from someone in customer service / engineering who further researched the door issues and got back to me pro-actively. He explained about the replacement refrigerator doors so I will pass along to you all here.

1. The replacement doors being sent out are totally different in the way the hinges are made. They should be fine.
2. The strengthening part bantered around here are for real and just getting into the system. These will be made a retrofit for the early model doors that have not failed (yet) They are not intended for the NEW door.
3. I told him they should get them into distribution ASAP to avoid unnecessary failures, injuries and pissed off owners. Also that the retrofit kit should be made available / sent out with the new doors anyway as cheap insurance.

Thanks for passing that along, that's encouraging at least.

Take care,
