Been having a difficult time logging into RV.NET the past couple days... sometimes it works, other times it drops a post because it can't find the website. Anyone else having the same problem? All the other sites jump right on.

Hope all is well with the new grandchild, Don... are you still in Canada?

Same here. They get it fixed for a few days. Then it's back to the old
stuff of not getting on.

Thanks Ron, for a while there I thought I was being "de-posted"...been stirring things up a bit on the Class A forum about new rusty Hurricane RV's by Four Winds... looks like Four Winds had a flood at the plant and got some coaches muddied up, and so decided to "clean" the mud with some kind of caustic soda... boiled the undercarriage paint and "galvanizing.." really upset a couple guys because they thought it was normal salt... check out my rvfactor blog for some pics if you want... www.rvfactor.blogspot.com .

Yes Denny, still here in snowy Southern Ontario (well, we aren't the only ones with snow) and getting another foot this weekend. We are so used to hearing US weather reports that state "snow and cold weather coming down from Canada." Well, this year all this %&^%&^(*& snow is coming UP to Canada from the US (often originating in Texas). You can have it all back if you want. :)

We are just so pleased with our grand daughter (first grandchild) who was born last Sunday. Our daughter-in-law had a very tough time. They ended up doing a C-section and it was extremely hard on her and she and Danica were not released until Thursday afternoon. I've been very fortunate to see (at least) one grandchild (we are hoping I'll be around for their second). I have cancer and in 1996 the specialists figured (based on patients with the same diagnosis) that I'd probably see my last sunset about 2001 (Scientific American devoted an entire issue to cancer that month and it had the same life expectancies). I finished chemo in early 1997 and have not had to be treated again - yet. Most cancer patients with my DX require treatment again within 5 years, and over 90% are gone within 10 years. Now, they are starting to feel that I'm going to be the ONE in a THOUSAND who does not relapse. Yes, I really do live with my fingers crossed now. So, all this lousy weather isn't really bothering us (thank goodness for the AWD Equinox and the AWD/4WD Tahoe) because of the thrill of seeing your grand daughter when you never expected to be so fortunate. In the fall of 1996 when things were looking bleak, I'd never have guessed we'd get the opportunity to spend 2 months in NZ and Australia two years in a row (03 & 04) and then have the opportunity to be foolish enough to go through 4 motorhomes in 5 years. Wouldn't have bet a nickel on all this happening.

Our son lives in the Windsor and works in Michigan (auto mfg biz). We listed out home last summer and it was sold but the buyers could not sell their home so the sale didn't fly. It is not listed at the moment but we did get an offer this week (that we turned down) from the first couple to view it last summer (they just love the 2 acre lot on the Grand River - with RV pad and 50 amp service). The couple that made the offer last year, when learning of this new offer, have agreed to purchase it unconditional but with a long closing. We have our fingers crossed that their offer will be completed with a healthy deposit in the agent's trust account this week.

As you can see, it was a hectic week and thus I've not had much time for the forums.

Don may God be with you and I have beaten it as well with a brain
tumor. Had mine done at MD Anderson the world renown cancer center
in Houston, Tx in 2005. So far so good and may God be with you. Dane

Denny: The reason there is lots of mud at the plants is that a
tornado all but destroyed all the plants several months back. They
are still trying to rebuild and put out RVs at the same time. Dane

I'm really glad to hear things are going well and she's on the mend. I
had my first grandchild (boy) this Wednesday and after being on bed rest
and the doctors trying to keep that guy from coming weeks early, things
came out okay. He's a bit jaundice, but they say nothing to worry about
right now and are treating him. Scary times for about three weeks, but
he and his mom did okay in the end. Am I officially old now? ;-)

Glad they were wrong :-) I do know this feeling though and continue not
to believe what they tell me about my prognosis. I developed MS in 1989
and the Army doctors told me I'd be permanently in a wheel chair within
a year. I was in and out of one for about three years and haven't used
one in the last 12. In 2002 I was in for something called eosynophillic
pneumonia which took another three years to turn into Churg Strauss
Syndrome. The doctors told me the good news was the life competency was
about 5 years and the bad news was I was about three years into it.
Okay, so another three years later and here I am feeling better than I
have in years. The doctors at Duke who took over the case are very
optimistic and already told me to forget what the others said about life
competency because it was VERY outdated info on a very rare disease.

Life goes on if we're lucky and that's part of why we bought a motorhome
last fall in spite of any smart financial thinking saying that was a bad
idea. It's something we've dreamed of after dragging trailers around for
years and it was time to do it.

We have that in common :-)

That's a plus too. Adam was quick to call and let me know it was a boy
so the Gimlick name would go on, but I didn't care whether it was a boy
or a girl as long as he/she was okay. It's fun to watch kids have to see
what it's like being parents :-)

Good luck on the house sale. I'm at the beach in a condo on the beach
for the month and it's been exceptionally nice except for the big storms
this week. That only lasted two days though and today it's about 60 and
sunny with very light breeze so it will be wine on the deck this
afternoon before dinner :-)

I am looking forward to getting the motorhome out of storage though and
doing some trips as this weather gives me the wanderlust. We're trying
to be good though until we do the big trip to Denver and then on to Moab
and back east in June. Then again after reading all these posts about
adding a few thousand in upgrades to the suspension I'm getting a little
nervous about the mountains. That seems strange when I've dragged
trailers thru them over the years and never worried.

Take care,
Greg

Greg, you are experiencing the same run of luck I am. Great. I've watched the memorial wall of our cancer forum get longer and longer. My hematologist was outstanding and I was sorry to lose him in 2006 when he was appointed national director of clinical trials for the National Cancer Institute of Canada. He and I are Bayesians so we were able to really communicate.

It appears we are getting 2 offers tomorrow based on a phone call I just received. Sure will be glad to get the sale over with, make an offer on a home near Windsor (we refuse to let Danica's other grandparents spoil her all on their own) and get back to Florida. Although it is bright and sunny, it sure is not warm (but going up to 32 tomorrow). This is the view out of our family room. No one is going to swim in that pool for a while.

He was high speed then wasn't he. I lost my Duke doctor to a job in
Atlanta because he decided to get married and she worked there. The
replacement is the head of the department though so I feel very lucky.
we met a couple of weeks ago and he seems very good. I liked it at the
end of our session when he looked at me and said, "you are exactly the
type of patient I specialize in".

I hear that :-) Our next grandchild will be born in April but lives in

From the looks of your backyard it sounds like a good idea :-)

Here's the view from the condo today and then one when the storm
finished the other day and the bulldozer was trying to keep up with a
