2007 vs 2008 August 29, 2007, 12:02:23 am Yahoo Message Number: 43Hello all!We do not yet have a Kodiak chassis MH but we are looking andseriously considering a Jayco Seneca with the Duramax motor. We arewondering if it would be best (abet more expensive) to wait for the2008 chassis. We're told the '08 will have 330hp, more torque and a 6 speed Allisontransmission. Actually, we don't understand the difference betweenthe 2007.5 emissions "stuff" and the 2008 emissions stuff. Is therereally a difference between the '07.5 and '08 motors? We are alsowondering which would provide the better fuel mileage. What do you think? All opinions/advise would be appreciated. Thanks, Paul & Linda Quote Selected
Re: 2007 vs 2008 Reply #1 – August 29, 2007, 06:57:56 am Yahoo Message Number: 44I would want the 2007 with a pre 2007 motor. It's easy to spot one ofthe post 2007 motors. They have a large flared tip on exhaust pipe. There are some reports of 2007 model Jayco's with the six speed trans.Unless there is a special feature that you want on 2008 models. Lookfor a 2007 with early 2007 chassis. Our 34' MH gets consistent 10+ mpg since crossing the 20,000 milemark. We stay close to 60 mph. Quote Selected
Re: 2007 vs 2008 Reply #2 – August 29, 2007, 07:40:59 am Yahoo Message Number: 45 To support what Ron has stated, we have an 07 Greyhawk and it has a 6 speed. When we ordered it in February we were told it would have the 6 speed. The GM announcement of the 6 speed for the Kodiak as standard was made in Aug 06 so I guess they had a lot of 06 chassis to use (in 07 models) before the could get to the 6 speed units.I have no doubt that the diesel gets much better mileage than the gassser. We are only getting about 8 and we have not towed our Tahoe yet. We bought a ScanGauge for the Greyhawk last weekend and it appears to be working well. It confirms the MPG we figured we were getting without holdups. All four of our extended weekend trips to date have been influenced by almost a one hour border crossing line up that has burned up fuel.I also miss the exhaust brake that we had on our last two A Class diesels. If we buy again it will be a diesel unit - especially if the new Duramax 4.5 litre is available (about 300 hp and torque of 520) as it would be an improvement on our 8.1 Vortec and should get even better mileage. I don't expect to see these in MHs until 2010 though.Don Quote Selected

We have a 43SS and now get 10+ MPGat 55-60 MPH. ( after the Duramax was broken in after 10,000 miles)The only real downside to the 2007 IMO is the Entertainment Center. In my 2006 the television was centered which allowed me to retrofit a32" Sony Bravia HD flat screen in place of the smaller CRT model. In 2007 they moved the TV to the passenger side limiting the screensize and destroying any hope of maintaining a " surround" soundfield. In 2008, after many complaints, Jayco came to their sensesand placed it back in the middle and did a nice job of hiding thefront speakers.Bottom line, if having a Home Theater experience on the road isimportant to you, as it is to me, then this should be a bigconsideration. If not, then the 2007 would get my vote.Craig, "kemper_mm" wrote:QuoteHello all!We do not yet have a Kodiak chassis MH but we are looking andseriously considering a Jayco Seneca with the Duramax motor.
