The best of Kodiak 2009
Well, the year is winding down and we covered a lot of territory and met a lot of folks. I thought I would take a minute to write down the high points of the year. Roscoe Ventura is winterized and sleeping until we head to Big Bend NP in January.
Best Campground - Rod and Gun - Spearfish National Forest - Black Hills South Dakota . 7 slots, lots of trails - close to nature, good for the dogs.
Best Boondocking - Back of Cracker Barrel - $6.10 for complete meatloaf dinner, and the cheapest overnight stay around. Close second - Sandia Casino in Albuquerque NM - Desert Mountains , great facilities, friendly security.
Best Modification - Shurflo Pump Silencer -
Best Drive - Winthrop to Anacortes on Hwy 20 though the cascades. Wow!
Best Kodiak Run in - Sandy and I ran into Russ and Claudia Hill outside of Yosemite National Park while walking our dogs. A chance encounter turned into a lovely moonlight evening touring their GS, camaraderie, and a lot of learning on my part!
Best Online - Thanks to all of you who have given me advice and feedback on my efforts to overcome a lifetime of computer work to learn to work in the real world with my own two hands! I owe every one of you thanks for being patient with my postings! Special thanks to feedback and advice from nchorselover55, mrfixit454, Russ Hill, and of course Ron Hall. The collective wisdom of this group is amazing.
Happy Holidays - See you next year. Rally 2010!!!
