Filter Minder

Did some investigation on air filters for the Kodiak. These filters
cost a fortune. GM calls for replacement around 22500 miles. Unless
you have a Filter Minder. Bought a Filter Minder off EBAY and
installed(less than $30). Got same one that GM offers as a option. GS
choose not to put one in their Kodiak's. There is also a K&N model
that goes in engine compartment.
While I had filter out for install. I noticed that at sometime water
has collected in the air intake. Drilled a small hole to drain water
before it gets to air cleaner. There is a hole already drilled just
behind the one I drilled. But it is to high and far back to drain the
water. This mod should save the cost on a filter or 2 during ownership.

Thanks for the write-up, Ron. I got around to installing the filter
minder on my Seneca today, and what an easy install. Took all of 20
minutes.

With the filters (GM Part # 88937527) costing 69.99 at Advance Auto
part, the Filter Minder should save a bunch of money.

Nice install. Made a trip up north last weekend. Since my Filter
Minder is mounted inside I can watch how it reacts as engine changes
load and rpms. Never went about 1/2 of the gauge. I did check to see
what happens when limit is reached. It lock into that position. Until
that is reach indicator moves up and down as intake changes. I betting
that MH will have 50,000 miles before filter needs changing.

I liked the remote reading gauge, that you used, but .... I already
have a transmission temp gauge occupying one of the gauge spaces and
plan to add an exhaust temp gauge in the other. But, the remote read
gauge would be cool to watch:)
