Tim signed out last week when it happened the first time. He came back in and we thought the problem was fixed. He just left the group again this evening and will be back as soon as the problem is solved.

A rarely used email address I have on Yahoo (only used it via a web browser and never pop3 or imap) has been hit the same way. Since the only addresses in the directory for that account are my other email accounts I'm getting all the spam.

The Winnie-Itasca forum is also experiencing this problem with a couple of members.

It is a PITA since none of us need Viagra or Cialis. :)

The best thing to do is to change the passwords on your e-mail account and then run a spyware scan on your machine - Install Malwarebytes and run a scan - It's free from download.com

The issue can be local to your machine or the "hacker" could have copied all of your contacts and is spoofing your account - Most of the time the issue is local to the machine you are sending e-mails from and as such, running a spyware scan with a few select free apps can usually resolve the issue.

I'm a Mac user so I don't have to go through all that. The email account with the problem is not run on this machine so it is likely a Windows or Linux issue.

I think Tim changed the password early on. I changed the password at Yahoo/Rocketmail and that solved the problem with the rarely used account - for the moment anyway.

I'm not sure if I understand your response.  Isn't Tim the one with the issue?
If so, you having a Mac or you changing your password has nothing to do with his issue.

Inn addition to Tim's issue, I noted that I've got a yahoo address that I rarely use and it has the same problem.  I don't used it with an imap or pop3 mail handler - just web browser access.  Also, the contact list only has a few addresses - my other email addresses.  The first thing I did was change the pw and that seems to have stopped the problem.  Installing and running Malwarebytes would not help because it is a Wintel product.  But, the cause of the problem was likely at yahoo and not on my computer, for reasons noted.  Don  On 2011-04-03, at 10:58 PM, Wyatt S. wrote:
