Dane: Both Ron & Kevin turned me onto Best Material in Phoenix, Az. A 50' roll of ETERNABOND 4" in white costs $53.15. This is the type they recommend for RV repair. Just Goggle Best Material for the prices and related shipping cost...................russ

Just ordered some Eternabond too. Thanks for the tip on ordering. I've never used it before. When you put it down, did you remove the old caulk first, or put it down over top of the old caulk?

Remove the old Caulk first.  Putty knife and some care. For DAP, just get it started and then peal. Clean up with light soapy water and then Lacquer Thinner. Then you are ready to go.

Pick a mid range temperature day, and roll like you have a purpose. Bubbles and ridges can be punctured or slit with a box cutter, then press together or use a patch.

I will send you a file direct on a project description.

Thanks for the photos and directions! This will make the job much easier. Have you, or anyone done the front and rear cap joints with this? If I do a decent job around the fans, I might give it a try.

When should the caulk be removed and replaced with EternaBond? I've got a 2009 Seneca 35GS. I'm not seeing any leaks or cracked caulking, but I don't want to find out the hard way it's time.

Regards, Glenn

I ordered a roll myself and a can of cleaner. The cleaner is out of
stock right now though.

I'd like to see a copy of your instructions/photos too.

Take care,
Greg

Greg, no worries. They are just Adobe Acrobat versions of my posts on the Ceiling Fan / Maxxair install and the forward vent seal - so no mystery documents, just my old posts. I have sent them to you in a separate email.

Cleaning: I have tried warm soapy water, Acetone, and Lacquer thinner. I have settled on warm soapy water followed by lacquer thinner to result in a really clean surface for application. Like many jobs all the work is in the prep.

If you bought the primer or cleaner from them, I have not tried either. Please let us know if they work better!

Best called yesterday to let me know they were back ordered on the
cleaner and did I want them to hold the rest of the order until it
arrived. I figured since we're leaving next week they could just ship it
whenever it gets there. So, I guess I won't know for a while.

One of the reasons I ordered their cleaner is it's supposed to be okay
for TPO and EPDM. Everything that references acetone or lacquer thinner
also references fiberglass roofs it seems. Since my Greyhawk has TPO, I
don't want to make any mistakes I'll pay for later.

Take care,
Greg

Great point. I guess I was being Fiberglass centric. Smart of you!

Double important to see how it works then.
