My first and rather long posting with any group ever

Yahoo Message Number: 673
Hello to you all

I had a day off and I spent most of it reading many of the postings
from the old to the new. I have much to learn and all of you seem
to have a great amount of experience and knowledge.

I and my wife traded in our 02 Jayco travel trailer for our 07 Jayco
gas powered Chevy Kodiak Greyhawk 33DS, in August 2007. We did our
trade in and purchase online w/RVDirect.com. We delivered our trailer
and returned with the MH from Albany. This was a fair
distance from our home and it gave me a good chance to experience the
handling. Our first camping was in South Carolina, with only one
mishap. The attic fan was broken and blowing open. I stopped secured
it and had it covered w/ a MaxAir vent cover. Once we returned home,
I took it to our local Jayco authorized dealer for replacement. They
also checked out other warranty concerns I had. This was the dealer
we had purchased our 02 trailer from, but their prices on MHs were
higher than what I found online.

I too wanted the Senca, but I could not get past the diffence in cost
of Gas power vs Diesel, and Diesel fuel cost are presently higher.
None the less, I plan on keeping this unit well into my eventual
retiremnet, so I need to learn and interact with all of you to gain
insight in to what future is ahead of us all.

Some of the things I have done so far: I placed MaxAir vent covers
over all three of our roof vents. Two of which are designed to be
used with attic fans(Fan/Mate model 800), the third one is a regular
cover over a non-powered vent. I installed a Mud flap w/reflectors
(from CAMPING WORLD) across the back bumper for toad/dingy
protection. I know the flap will reduce my fuel savings and I am not
presently towing. I installed a Winegard entertainment select box in
the entertainment system located above the truck cab. There is no
over cab bed. I Installed 15"LCD TV in the bedroom on a THULE system
hanger, that THULE does not recommend you use while in transit.
However, I made a clamping system that makes it safe. Their system
enables us to bring the TV outside under the awning too. This way the
system serves a dual purpose. I installed two more deep cycle 12V.
House batteries, we have three all total.

I'll have questions about the 15,000 vs the 19,000 lb. rear springs,
I'm sure our unit has the 15,000 lb.springs, but for now I need to
stop and send this rather long post.

Thanks, John
