Wondering what the "flash point" temperature is/means?

It mean's your looking for a new transmission at the very least. I believe flash point is the temperature at which the oil or transmission fluid ignites.

Exactly, it's when the fluid starts to vaporize and burn.

Make sense now that I realize that they changed units (235 "C" - 455 "F"). Now I am not so concerned.

NO WAY! They would not run the shut down at 5 degrees C before it ignited.
