Power when Key is Off? October 25, 2012, 10:37:25 pm Yahoo Message Number: 9952All, We are having an issue when the key is in the off position - The motorhome still thinks the ignition is on and as such will not do certain things...Jacks wont go down, electric step wont stay down etc. Has anyone ever had this issue? 2004 Endura with the 8.1.Thank you!! Re: Power when Key is Off? Reply #1 – October 25, 2012, 11:13:33 pm Yahoo Message Number: 9953That has happened to me as well. In my case the solution was simple - put the parking brake on. Then all was fine.Don Quote Selected

Re: Power when Key is Off? Reply #3 – October 26, 2012, 10:07:16 am Yahoo Message Number: 9960As was said, put on the parking brake. As for the steps, there should be a switch for the steps. Turn it to off. The steps will stay out. With the switch on, the steps go in and out every time the door is opened/closed...CrazyTed Quote Selected
Re: Power when Key is Off? Reply #4 – October 26, 2012, 10:13:33 am Yahoo Message Number: 9961Thanks guys...I'm aware of how to use the step to keep it out, and the parking break is / was set. It's not user error in my case.Per another thread on the groups pages, there is a solenoid they may be faulty? From: vbpdtac To: KodiakChassisClassC@yahoogroups.comSent: Friday, October 26, 2012 7:07 AMSubject: [KodiakChassisClassC] Re: Power when Key is Off?As was said, put on the parking brake. As for the steps, there should be a switch for the steps. Re: Power when Key is Off? Reply #6 – October 26, 2012, 06:14:46 pm Yahoo Message Number: 9964Thanks Ron - If it was just the jacks the were affected I'd be more inclined to believe it's the only issue. But to reiterate - If we turn ignition off and pull out key, the engine shuts down and instrument panel goes off but heat/air fan stays on. The step switch is turned off but won't stay out and jacks will not go down (beeps)...seems to me its in the ignition switch or this so called solenoid that was mentioned in a different thread I found on the groups page? From:ronjhallsrTo: KodiakChassisClassC@yahoogroups.comSent: Friday, October 26, 2012 2:32 PMSubject: [KodiakChassisClassC] Re: Power when Key is Off?If you do not have the Equalizer System manual here it is.http://www.equalizersystems.com/documents/7/SERVICE%20INFO%20FOR%20GULF%20STREAM.pdfSome very good info in the manual to help trouble shoot problems.More info.http://www.equalizersystems.com/documents/7/4%20FUNCTION%20BI-ROT-WIRING.pdfMore info.http://www.equalizersystems.com/documents/7/4%20FUNCTION%20BI-ROT-HOSE%20ID.pdfHere is installation info for a manual system.http://www.equalizersystems.com/documents/3/4%20Point%20Manual%20Leveling-%20Install%20manual%202012.pdfBestRon Hall Quote Selected
Re: Power when Key is Off? Reply #7 – October 26, 2012, 06:45:03 pm Yahoo Message Number: 9965Ignition switch would be my guess. When only some items shut off on IP. Check connector on end of steering column.BestRon Hall Quote Selected
Re: Power when Key is Off? Reply #8 – October 26, 2012, 10:06:37 pm Yahoo Message Number: 9967What is the make of your levelling system?I had HWH on my first two MHs and then Power Gear on the next two. None on the fifth. The Power Gear systems required the ignition to be on (Greg, is my memory working) and they even suggest running the engine since the power is drawn from the chassis battery. Have you tried operating the jacks with the engine running?Thinking back, I'm a bit hazy but I suspect you have an HWH system. I would not be at all surprised if you have somehow blown one or more fuses. Power Gear has a couple of fuses in their levelling system control box and I seem to recall HWH does as well. The jacks should not work with the ignition switch in the off position.Don Quote Selected
Re: Power when Key is Off? Reply #9 – October 27, 2012, 04:22:29 pm Yahoo Message Number: 9969Never had this problem but while researching a jack problem, I was told by the jack manufacturer that Gulfstream did not protect the wiring harness to the jack controls where the wires make the transition from inside to outside of the vehicle, right behind the driver's seat. It is a pinch point that can best be seen from underneath, but not easily. This is one thing I would inspect for a short, but ignition switch is a more probable culprit.Charles Quote Selected

Re: Power when Key is Off? Reply #12 – October 29, 2012, 05:08:30 am Yahoo Message Number: 9974OP has a GS Endura. It will have Equalizer Systems jacks. In his first post he did not mention that some things that should shut off on the IP when key was removed stayed on. This would mean that problem is in the ignition switch. Not parking brake or other external item.BestRon Hall Quote Selected
