Dave, I used a piece of heavy rubber backed carpet that I found at Lowes. I think it was an outdoor doormat.
I cut it about 6" wide - so that it covered the gap with about a 4" overlap when the slide was extended and then used a metal threshold strip to secure it to the slide image1.JPG
