Gererator primer light June 20, 2017, 10:50:27 pm Yahoo Message Number: 16030I have a 2007 Jayco Seneca with a Onan generator. The light for the primer comes on by itself and from outside you can hear a fast clicking sound. I have turned the generator off by the outside switch and it still comes on. Hoping somebody can tell me why this is happening or if this is going to damage something. Also, is there some way to keep this from happening until I can get it looked at. Thanks in advance for any and all help. Mike Quote Selected
Re: Gererator primer light Reply #1 – June 21, 2017, 12:33:51 am Yahoo Message Number: 16031seems they all do it. the only way you can keep it from happeining is to shut off the coach batteries at the switch. r if you need ot keep the switch on to keep the fridge going and what not, about once a month you have to shut it down to reset the board and then it won't do it. i talked to an onan generator service guy and he couldn't figure out why it did it either.-- Quote Selected
Re: Gererator primer light Reply #2 – June 21, 2017, 06:24:16 pm Yahoo Message Number: 16032If I remember correctly the Jayco Super C's have a Magnun controller for auto starting generator. I would be looking there for why the prime is continually running. My generator never ran prime unless I asked it to.BestRon Hall Quote Selected

Re: Gererator primer light Reply #7 – June 18, 2020, 06:52:00 pm My research led me to believe the controller (located on the board inside the cabin on the control panel) needs a firmware upgrade. Supposedly, there is a bulletin #696 that outlines the problem and recommended upgrade. Any Cummins repair facility should be able to do it but the one near me won't take any interest. Until I get mine upgraded, I unplug the generator control panel in the cabin and the problem has stopped. Quote Selected
