Duramax Coolant Temp Gauge Not Working

Yahoo Message Number: 16694

Good Morning, All-

I own a 2005 Gulfstream Endura 3640 with the 6.6 LLY Duramax Engine with no mods. My OEM Coolant Temp Gauge does not work however my Scan Gauge does show the correct coolant temp and my truck runs fine. Can anyone tell me if the OEM Gauge has its own sensor and can you direct me to the sensor location?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Vern

I just had my dash gauge repaired on site for 150$ in Houston. Same issue as you are experiencing with the sensor working but the dash gauge displaying random temps.

The sensor is located behind front oil fill tube. On passenger side of coolant thermostat housing.

As already stated it is probably the dash gauge if your Scangauge is reading correct. If the sensor was bad engine wouldn't run good.

Gents- Thanks for the information, looks like a dash gauge problem..
