Receiver mounted tow lights June 29, 2008, 11:12:06 am Yahoo Message Number: 1358I am installing a US Gear Unified Tow Brake on my 07 CRV and 07 32SSJayco. I have decided I want to use some form of receiver mounted towlights. I have found several "light bars" but none that are made tomount in a 2 inch receiver hitch.Don, I saw a post on rv.net that indicated you were using the Blue OxBX 88199 light bar that mounts in the hitch receiver. I have a fewquestions about the Blue Ox. Is it well made. Is it steel orAluminum? When it is folded out, how wide is it. When you fold it outdoes it have "click stops" at different points to lock it in place ordoes it just fold out all the way and bottom out? If it just bottomsout is it a friction fit and does this prevent the arms from "moving"when you hit bumps etc? I hope all of this is clear to you.I am using a Blue OX base plate (already installed) and a Blue OxAventa LX tow bar. I haven't decided on which "protector shield" touse for the toad yet.Mike Quote Selected
Re: Receiver mounted tow lights Reply #1 – June 29, 2008, 11:04:27 pm Yahoo Message Number: 1361Mike, I like the Light Bar and would buy it again. It fits a 2 inch receiver BUT for mine it was a bit short and rubbed up against the plastic over the bumper so I had to get a receiver extension. The joke was the Blue Ox's extension cost more than the light bar. Since it only has to support about 10 lbs not 10,000 lbs, I bought one for a fraction of their price. When it folds out it must be about 70 inches across and there are no stops along the way. Given the width of the Tahoe (78 inches) that is not a problem. When I was talking to someone at BO they told me no one liked the Light Bar. Needless to say I told her I was very happy with it. It is made of steel and I must say I've never even though of what it does when the Tahoe goes over bumps but I don't think the arms move too much.DonOn 29-Jun-08, at 11:12 AM, smokie39157 wrote: Quote Selected
