"Topic of the week"

Yahoo Message Number: 2307
I'd appreciate getting some views from members of the Kodiak forum.

I've been wondering about having a discussion "topic of the week."
Group members would submit topics and we'd would select one for
discussion each week.

For example, one topic might be "shock absorbers" and members would
post any changes they have made and how they worked.

Another might be engine modifications (such as Banks) and the results.

I'd like to know if a reasonable percentage of the group would be in
favor of this concept. Just reply to this note with a yes or no and
any comments you'd like to make.

And, if you have a topic or two you'd like to see on the list, please
include it with your reply.

Thanks

Don

sounds good to me. We've only had ours for about 7 months, so we haven't done much to it, and I would rather learn from others mistakes.

Sounds like a good idea.

I've had my Seneca since 2 February and have already had a rear sway bar installed, installed the front sway bar myself (have bruised knuckles to prove it) and the rear-trac bar is next. I'm really mulling over fog lights/driving lights after experiencing the drive in the dark and read old threads on the Kodiak headlights.

I'm in.

I've only added Koni shocks on the front thanks to a slip up by the installer on ordering 4 pin-pin shocks when my rear are eye-eye. Oh well. I have the "dually valves" in hand, but haven't the time to get into a tire shop for install. I installed the Doran tire pressure monitor including the toad('07 CRV), speaking of which I installed the Roadmaster base plate, and the US Gear Unified braking system. I am still using magnetic lights, but I have the diodes(no time) yet to install.
I do my own oil changes, fuel filter changes, chassis lube, and I have some silverstar replacement lights I hope to swap out tomorrow as we leave for FL on wednesday. I have installed a Scan guage II, but hey that was just a plug in job.

I don't have any specific topic for discussion right now, but will think of something as we get rolling along.

Roger

Don,

I think it's a great idea! It could also include "How To" stuff along with a specific topic, to add variety.

Be careful what you ask for :-)

Sounds good to me Don, I also like Denny's idea of some "how to" things.

Right now I'm in a condo at the beach and the motorhome is back in
storage, but one of the "how to" subjects for me might be how to sell a
motorhome in this market. Some serious talk at home about whether we'll
continue down the RV path or quit after all these years. Tough decisions.

Take care,
Greg

Greg,

Sorry to hear about the thought of selling. We have ours "on the market" right now, and we don't know if we will buy another either.

One hint... I heard recently that it can be risky to "consign" your motorhome. Insurance coverage issues can create a problem, and simply getting the $$$ from the consignor after the sale can be risky, especially if he decides to file bankruptcy before you get paid.

A big YES from me Don. Great idea! I'm currently involved in a Kodiak-MH project that should be completed in a week or so and then I'll get back into the swing of things. Bill

Sounds like a great idea Don. Some of us don`t post very often but we do learn alot from regular posters, (yourself , Ron, Denny, and Roger come to mind.) I like the how to idea also much cheaper for guys like myself to not have to spend money twice.
thank`s brad

Brad, I thought what I'd also do is group the discussion posts for each topic of the week and put them into a pdf document and post it in our files section so a new participant can go back and look at the discussions.

I'd be interesting in reading and participating a topic of the week.

It was a tough decision to come to.....if we've come to it. I'm out of
town for the month and we'll make the final decision when I get back. We
love the RV lifestyle and have done it since I was a kid, but it's
getting hard to find places near the coast in NC now that everything has
been bulldozed and turned into condos. It's still great for our trips to
see family in CO and NY, but it's an expensive toy to have sit and do
maintenance on. I look at some of the quality issues of the 5th wheels
we thought we might go for and don't know if I want to get into it. Our
Greyhawk 32SS has been worked over and doing great so that's another
thing I hate to give up :-)

I haven't done the photos to list it for sale anywhere yet nor figured
out just how I want to approach the effort if I commit to selling it.

I've heard the same thing and the dealer I usually deal with isn't
interested in consignments either. We have discussed that if he sent
someone my way, I'd make it worth his effort and since I've sold a few
RV's for him, he might if he doesn't have something on the lot suitable.

Take care,
Greg

I have seen a few posts about selling. From what I am seeing, this is definately a "Buyers Market" right now. I am just getting back into RVing. When I was a teen, my family had a Class C that we took all over Texas. I am now searching for my first RV as an adult. I have seen the price drop sharply in just the last 12 months. I do most of my searching on rvsearch.com. I do not know what it costs to advertise, but a potential buyer can search by brand, size, price range and most importantly, location. I have looked on ebay, but the search criteria are not that good. I have not tried craigs list. Good luck to all who are making that difficult decision.
