Towed Tahoe for first time today October 25, 2007, 12:19:05 am Yahoo Message Number: 245Since we are departing for FLA on Saturday and we'd never connected andtowed the Tahoe behind the Jayco we felt we had better take a test run.Hadn't connected a toad since April so I had to go slowly and make sureI didn't miss anything. Got it all done and set off on a 4 mile routewith a decent uphill run and a gas station we could get into so we couldleave Saturday and have a full tank.Well, I regularly hear "you can't even tell you are towing." Let me saythat I sure did know I was towing as 6000 lbs behind about 18,000 (notfully loaded yet) with torque of 440 just doesn't compare with 6000behind 32,000 with torque of 950. We believe there is a pretty bigdifference between towing with the Jayco Greyhawk 32SS and ourAmbassador. The Kodiak towed OK and the fact it is 8 ft shorter didmake a difference. But the lack of muscle meant you knew it was therewhen pulling away from a stop and when going uphill and the lack of anexhaust brake reminded you it was there when going down hill and whenbraking. At least I now know what to expect when we depart. Now I have to hopethe fuel mileage won't suffer too much or we will have to alter ourplanned gas stops. Scan gauge showed around 7 on the instant readingfor the 4 miles home but I hope it is better than that when we are onthe highway at 60 mph.Don Quote Selected

No rain though, so no steering control issues except on a couple sharper curves...Denny2007 Dutchmen by Thor Industries2006 Tahoe1943 bodyno pets1 wifeno girlfriendempty walletSee what's new at AOL.com and Make AOL Your Homepage. Re: Towed Tahoe for first time today Reply #2 – October 25, 2007, 09:18:58 am Yahoo Message Number: 247 Thanks Denny. Our road test was only 8 miles and top speed wasn't too high (perhaps 50 mph) so I'll be cautious on that tail wag. I had a feeling we might be getting a bit of that but I guess I'll find out for sure on Saturday.Don Quote Selected
