32SS Greyhawk Rear Endcap Separation November 17, 2007, 11:47:28 am Yahoo Message Number: 314Attachments :Before I bought my 32SS, Don was kind enough to send me photos of hisrear end cap that was separating from the back of the unit so I'd knowwhat to look for. All was fine when I bought it a couple of months ago, but low and behold......it's separating now. I haven't talked to Jaycoor the local dealer yet, but here are some shots of what I found. One isfrom the inside looking at the corner. It appears to only be separating from the floor of the coach down andonly on the curb side so far. This is a real disappointment for sure.Take care, Greg--Take care, Greg Quote Selected

I bought it in April of 07. The separation isin the same place as yours and Don's. Mine looks just like thepictures Don sent of his 32SS. I think the factory told him it wasa "butyl tape" they used and sometimes it "oozed" out. I am concernedalso, but have not contacted the factory or dealer. I would love toknow what causes it and how "big" of a problem the fix is. I hope itis something a "good" dealer can fix. I am a long way from the factory.Mike Quote Selected

Jayco saw my photosand told me there wasn't a safety or structural issue from what theycould see, but to have the dealer take a look. He looked it over andmashed on it, seeing that it would go back in place. He called Jayco andtalked to someone there and then returned with some 3 inch stainlessscrews. He took out the rubber strip and removed the screws which lookedto be maybe 1 1/4 inches at most and replaced them with the 3 inchscrews. The first one he put in pulled the whole back tight to thejoint. He replaced about a dozen up the back side and then did the sameto the other side even though that side didn't show any signs ofseparating. Everything seems tight now, but of course we haven't made atrip with it yet.Take care, Greg Quote Selected

Our new (in Dec) 2007 33DS has rear endcapseparation on the bottom on the roadside. Looks about like the picturesggimlick posted in Nov except on the other side. Thanks Greg for yoursubsequent post of the fix for this problem. I'll print out the fixdescription when I take it in to my local Jayco dealer.Bill Quote Selected
