Did Jayco make a big mistake? November 23, 2007, 11:00:02 pm Yahoo Message Number: 319The other day my wife surprised me with a comment. She said that shehas been approached by some of the women in the park about ourmotorhome. They think it looks like the ideal size and they'd like tohave a tour.I reminded her that Jayco has already discontinued it. That makes mewonder if they did the right thing?Anyone else get a lot of comments on their Kokiak? On another front, I've been getting more and more annoyed with GM.Those of us with the Kodiak 8.1L units get a 2 year warranty. Yet, GMhas made the 5 year power train warranty standard on all cars, SUVs andlight duty trucks - but not Medium Duty Trucks. This seems wrongsince Workhorse, on its web site said that GM has increased the warrantyon the power train to 5 years and that includes the 8.1L in the Class Achassis it produces (including the UFO). Well, those have a GVWR up to26,000 lbs compared with the heaviest Kodiak Class C at 22,000. Whywould GM not give us the same warranty as it apparently putting on theWCC units? I was fairly sure that GM was not covering the warranty onWorkhorse units (based on a lot of comments I've heard and the fact thatHonda did not provide any warranty or service for the Honda engine inthe Saturn View) but when you read the comments on the Workhorse website you get the feeling GM is providing the 5 years.I'm tempted to call GM warranty admin and ask why we are getting theshaft. Anyone know any more on why we were excluded.Hope you all had a happy Thanksgiving and didn't get shopped out today. We stayed in the park and away from the crammed stores.Don Quote Selected

Everyone isshocked at how roomy it feels inside and just the basic feel of thecoach. A few people said the truck side of it seemed a bit big andthey'd be more comfortable driving a standard C on a van body. I explainthe usual reasons for the Kodiak being my choice in regards to chassis, etc and that the width of the overall unit is the same either way.Everyone seems surprised that it's been discontinued. When I talk about it with my dealer, David just says they didn't sellwell. The dealer in GA who David arranged me to pick it up from said hesold the heck out of them, so who knows. David said he sells many moreSenecas on the Kodiak than he ever did the Greyhawk and when people aregoing to spend that amount, they didn't balk at another $20K or so fordiesel and flashier interior. Seems odd to me.I couldn't be happier with mine after putting almost 2000 miles on it inthe last two months since I bought it. It handled the NC mountains wellin the wind a couple of weeks ago and kept us warm and toasty inside. Iam discouraged about the rear end cap separating and have to addressthat when the world gets back to work this week.QuoteI'm tempted to call GM warranty admin and ask why we are getting theshaft. Anyone know any more on why we were excluded. No idea. I wonder if they look at the application and just assume thatpeople with the motorhomes are going to let them sit for months at atime without doing regular maintenance and therefore subject the engineto excessive wear when it's run on old oil with condensation in it fromsitting. Gummed up valves from not being run regularly etc. Justspeculation and poor guesses on my part though.QuoteHope you all had a happy Thanksgiving and didn't get shopped out today. We stayed in the park and away from the crammed stores. We had a great day, hope you did the same. We did get "out amongst them"yesterday morning about 6 AM for a bit of shopping. Where we go at thathour has easy parking and no big crowds looking for toys so our shoppingis easy and we get the early bird specials. Breakfast at 9 and then homefor a nap with shopping complete :-)Take care, Greg Quote Selected
