2008 Big Foot Model 32ST

Yahoo Message Number: 1639

Does anyone in the group own the Big Foot Model 32ST on the 22,000 upgraded chassis with the diesel? If so, do you like it? I found one in the Denver area today and will be test driving it tomorrow. I am really impressed with the quality of the design and the workmanship...

Denny,

I am very much looking forward to your opinion of the Bigfoot/Kodiak.
I've been smitten by it from everything I seen and read but haven't
had the opportunity to drive one. They are pricey however. I get the
feeling that the dealers know they've got a good thing and therefore
are not too anxious to negotiate much.

Denny,
We own a 2007 32ST Diesel, on the upgraded chassis, (the chassis
upgrade
increases the tires to the next size also.)

Purchased it in May of '07, we have put just over 10,000 miles on it.
Did some shopping around, RV Brokers Sacramento, Ca. an Arizona
place, and Adventure RV in Orange Co. Ca.
Bought it from Big Sky RV in Montana. It was the best price even with
the airfare. We live in Moorpark, Ca. (Ventura County).

Overall we have been happy with it.

A few problems with systems, not unlike most everyone.

From the Bigfoot owners site, there were recommendations on upgraded
handling
components. Similar to what others have done for the other ones on
Kodiak
chassis.

I thought it drove ok before the improvements but with the upgrades,
in my
opinion, it does handle better. Front and rear trac bars, front sway
bar.
Others, are changing out shocks and upgrading the rear swaybar, and
adding a
steering stabilizer.

We tow a couple different things behind it, 19' boat, jeep on a
trailer, and
jeep flat towed, depending on the trip.

It would be nice to be able to jump back and forth between one with
upgrades and
a stock one to really compare.

Jeff,

Thanks for the input! Your comments seem to be confined to the Kodiak
chassis which is what I would have expected and certainly in line with
other discussions of Kodiak chassis upgrades.

Can you offer any commentary regarding the build quality and amenities
of the motorhome itself? My relatively uneducated opinion is that
Bigfoot does a better overall job of putting the motorhome together
than all the other (production) brands most of us are aware of.

Thanks, Bill

Overall I would say the build quality is good.
We had looked at the Four Winds, Gulfstreams, Born Free, and some
class A rigs.
The Bigfoot fit our requirements for towing capacity, length of rig,
floorplan, in a super C.

We were able to join the Bigfoot owners website as a guest, to read
what owners were saying. Most owners are fairly happy.
But, there are issues with all the rigs, Class C, campers, trailers.
Sometimes you only hear about the problems and not all the good
things.

I have quite a few friends with different manufacturers rigs. Mostly
Class A.
They all have had issues.

We had an issue with the inner dual tires rubbing on the inside of
the fender well. Bigfoot issue.
Fixed under warranty, at a local shop that I was able to pick.

HGH leveling system has never worked quite right. Was worked on under
warranty, but the auto leveling system is still not right. Probably
not attributed to Bigfoot.

Generator electric power cable for starting came loose. Not Bigfoot.

Some of the outside cabinet doors are having minor hinge problems.
Bigfoot issue.

Rear view monitor quit. Out of warranty. Replaced with upgraded unit,
$100 from Mobile Optics, that I installed. Not Bigfoot.

Air leak in rear airbag system. fixed under warranty. Bigfoot.

I think that's it.

Except, when we turned on the air conditioning to check it during our
check out, all the vents blew out the bits of insullation and little
pieces of wood.

All that said, I would buy it again. All the many other things are
working good.
