Duramax would not start

Yahoo Message Number: 11645
I just thought I'd pass this on in case it happens to someone else. On our way back from California last week, stopped for the night at the big rest area on I5 just south of Portland. The next morning, fired up the engine, ran for about 30 seconds and quit, would not restart. After about half an hour of head scratching, I tried bleeding the fuel filter. It started, ran for about 30 seconds and quit. Tried priming the filter again and my wife noticed fuel running out of the drain on the bottom of the filter. Turns out the drain had mysteriously opened itself and the engine was sucking air. No idea why this happened but it ran fine the rest of the way home.
