Broken Exhaust

Yahoo Message Number: 2089
Driving up Tehachapi pass in California on our way home, the engine
all the sudden become very much louder. After stopping, I found the
bracket at the rear of the exhaust pipe was broken. That didn't
explain the load sound, so I figured, that when it broke at the back,
it must have broke before the muffler also. The engine seemed to run
fine, just loud.

The next morning, I got some exhaust hanger straps put them on. And
found the other problem. The connection that goes up to the engine
(turbo ?) was also broken. I just left it.

Worked fine. Just took it a little easier and tried not to let it
downshift going uphill to where it would run at 3000 rpm. Same today,
except a couple of times it downshifted and then threw an engine code,
P0087, and went into limp mode. Fortunately, I was able to clear it
with the scangauge and it started running correctly again.

So, I will have to start checking with Four Winds and Chevy to get it
fix. Unfortunately, I assume the rear bracket is Four Winds and the
front connection would of course be Chevy. So hopefully, they will be
happy to fix their part under warranty.
