I have a Kodiak 5500 diesel, dually, 6.75" Alcoa rims and upgraded from 225/70 19.5's to Michelin XZE 245/70 19.5's, 16 ply, up two load range, F to H, fit fine. I highly recommend good quality one piece (no extensions) metal stems, new rubber seals in all stems, and point the outer dual stem so it points out instead of in (just makes things easier down the road). I got rid of all extensions and went with metal stems the correct length. You need a good tire guy to make sure of the fit. Just my .02. Good luck.

Do you belong to FMCA ? You get good discounts on MICHELIN's. I got 245's load range "H" for around $375 plus mounting and balancing.

Dave, your tires weren't XRV's though, were they? XZE? XZA?

I had XRVs on a Winnebago Journey and they were terrible. I'd probably buy any Michelin but the XRV. They had a ton of problems with them and many owners reported blowouts - even when the MH had been sitting in their driveway and hadn't moved for a month. Ours couldn't keep air at all. When owners complained to Michelin it was always the same thing - they must not have been inflated enough. We had a routine to check ours daily and carried a compressor with us. Then, Michelin issued a bulletin informing owners they had to inflate their tires by another 10 psi, bumping it from 100 psi to 110 for our weight.

When we switched to a HR Ambassador it had Goodyears and our tire problems disappeared. We currently have Michelins on our C and they are fine (last spring Michelin recalled over a million tires so we have 7 new ones now).

I would increase weight capacity to at least a H load rated tire or go to a 245 G rated tire. As Don said. Stay away from RV rated tires.

In order for you jacks to extend be sure the emergency brake is ON, Vehicle in PARK, and key is ON.

We tried all of those things. We are unable to get them to work. They worked last time. Do you know where the hydraulic fluid check is? We recently purchased this coach.

Do you hear the pump run? If not you possibly have a bad pump relay. Had to replace mine.
My manual also talks about having the drivers seat all the way forward. I guess some models have a safety switch on the drivers seat (mine does not).

Question for those who have upgraded to 245's - what's the clearance between the duals with the larger tires? I have about 2" with the 225's - measured at 3/9-o-clock - and I can't find any details on the profile for these sized tires (when loaded) on-line. ('06 GS 6340 on Kodiak) Kind of nervous about making a $1500-1700 investment in replacement/upgrade (to H-rated) tires if I'll be doing any sort of sidewall-kissing at the duals.

Also - found this link: https://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/24375786/print/true.cfm

I'm not hung up on OEM replacement tires - have a Hankook on an outside dual now, after a blowout of the original Michelin (none to be had in the stretch between Sonora and Ft Stockton, TX) - and so far have no reasons not to trust some of the Chinese/Korean/Japanese branded tires...plenty of them on OTR trucks.

Emergency brake on? Ignition key on and motor running? Does the power button light up? Need more information.

I see the other replies now. Are the lights on the unit lighting up? Any error codes being flashed?

i have about 10,000 miles on DoubleCoin tires i put on about 2 years ago and they have performed very well. Good tread wear and smooth ride. A little tire noise in the back since i went with a more aggressive tire pattern for the rear. Bought them at Les Schwab.

All I have decided to install sumitomo 718 ST's 225/70/19.5 load G 14ply. They will be installed Friday in San Jose ca. At skips tire. I paid $1550.00 with new valve stems and spin balance out the door with taxes and tire fees. Thank you for all the input
