Jayco 33DS Storage Compartment Heat Shield Fix

Yahoo Message Number: 2076
Any 33DS owners have any thoughts or feedback on how the right-front
storage compartment heat shield factory fix is working? I believe it was
"exfuzz" who first alerted us to this problem with a melted plastic
compartment wall. In his case I think the fix involved reinforcing the
plastic compartment wall and then adding a sheet metal heat shield
between the muffler and the compartment wall. The subsequent factory
service bulletin fix authorized by Jayco for all the rest of us was
installing an insulation blanket to the compartment wall. See photo at

We just completed our first trip since the factory fix and I must say
that the compartment interior was still quite hot. So I was wondering
how other 33DS owners were faring with this fix.

After having mine fixed, the interior still gets warm but not hot to
the touch. I still don't carry anything in that compartment that is
flamable......
