Transmissions and GCVW

Yahoo Message Number: 7970
I think we may have had this conversation, but I'm not sure. Just saw an interesting Allison brochure for the 1000 and 2000, they are shown together. It states the the GCVW for the 1000 and 2000 with a parking pawl are both 26,000 and that the 2000 without a parking pawl is 30,000. To me that just reinforces other comments that the parking pawl is what limits the GCVW not the internal trans parts (bands, clutches etc). The "safety notice" about exceeding the GCVW states that the damage could cause the vehicle to move unexpectedly.

Any other comments?

Dave

Good reason to use parking brake. I very seldom use mine.
