Check Engine Light...ON

Yahoo Message Number: 11487
Left North Rim of Grand Canyon this morning and discovered the "Check Engine Light" was on. I realize that this light is usually emissions related. No dealers at the North Rim so I drove to Kingman, Az. with no problems. On two other occasions the light also came on, both times it was the EGR. Have replaced one EGR in 70,000 miles. If repairs cannot be made in Kingman, Az. do you see any problem in driving 320 miles into Los Angeles?
Is it time to plug the "EGR"?

First thing I would do is get the CEL code read. There are so many things that can turn on the light. It's had to say what turned it on. Auto Zone or other auto parts store will usually read the code for nothing.
But then if you had a Scangauge II you would already have that information. You know I am just trying to help. :D

Ditto. I finally broke down and installed the ScangaugeII so I dont have to travel with my big scan tool normally in my tool box mostly for this reason.

Be well,
